The countdown to Rex Tillerson leaving his position as Secretary of State has been going for some time now. Tillerson has been undercut by Trump for weeks now, with Trump upping his rhetoric that Tillerson cannot accomplish the things he needs to.

There has been the seemingly never-ending series of tweets from Trump undercutting any effort that Tillerson might make to achieve some peace with North Korea.

Then, there was the bombshell report from NBC which revealed what Tillerson really thinks of Trump.

The tensions came to a head around the time President Donald Trump delivered a politicized speech in late July to the Boy Scouts of America, an organization Tillerson once led, the officials said.

Just days earlier, Tillerson had openly disparaged the president, referring to him as a “moron,” after a July 20 meeting at the Pentagon with members of Trump’s national security team and Cabinet officials, according to three officials familiar with the incident. – NBC News

Having watched things like this unfold with other aides, we know there is only once possible outcome. Tillerson will be some combination of fired/forced to resign. Trump will never stand for anyone on his staff openly disparaging him like that.

And of course being the self-professed counter puncher, he couldn’t resist taking a shot of his own this week.

He counterpunches, in this case firing a shot at Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, who reportedly called his boss a moron: “I think it’s fake news, but if he did that, I guess we’ll have to compare IQ tests. And I can tell you who is going to win.” – Forbes

We know that Trump would love to have the showdown of the West Wing IQs. Think of the possible ratings that would get! In the meantime, the White House offered the expected explanation of the situation. Take a look at the video below.
