For anyone holding out hope that Donald Trump would be a changed man after making his first overseas trip as President, I’m sorry to inform you that he is still the same un-hinged dope as when he left.
Upon arriving back in the US, Trump has restarted his incessant babbling via his Twitter account. While there have been many noteworthy tweets, one from this morning stands out as particularly disturbing.
“The U.S. Senate should switch to 51 votes, immediately, and get Healthcare and TAX CUTS approved, fast and easy. Dems would do it, no doubt!”

Trump has already had the Senate change their rules to push through their far right-wing Supreme Court nominee, Neil Gorsuch. Now he wants the Senate to change the legislative rules as well so his Fox News-approved agenda can be passed.
Will Senate Republicans, most importantly Mitch McConnell, play along? Maybe. They know that Trump himself is useless as a President, but he is a tool for them. Anything they put on his desk he will sign so that he can have another photo-op. He doesn’t actually care about any impact from his legislation, he just like to sign stuff. Literally.
So while Republicans might posture and pretend for a while that they will take the high road, expect nothing else but for them the change the rules so that they can push through all the crippling laws they have been dreaming of for the last decade.
